soft slinking salutes

Soft slinking salutes,
From the waves to a small sandy beach,
A tiny boat rocks, with us two, bobbing backwards
Towards the horizon, never to be reached
Your wave
In and out of focus, swims
In time with this ragged breathing
As these masks slip on and off
In time with this ragged heaving
In time
In time
You will tire
Or I will tire
And what will happen then?
This image, in and out of focus, swims,
A final Polaroid afloat
Fighting to the surface, one more lungful
Oh lightly lapping lips,
From the waves to a small sandy beach.
